Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today my Daddy (yep still call them Daddy and Mommy) is celebrating another birthday. He is a true kid at heart. I believe this card was a sketch somewhere but I am not sure where. It is all Simple Stories awesome. I sure hope I remembered to write INSIDE the card (pregnancy brain and all!). Love you Daddy!

Flowers for me

This layout is based on a Sketch Support Sketch from the Travel book. I have had these pictures from as far back as 2005. I used my Cameo for the heart flourishes and then did a negative tag with the hearts. I think I like it, not sure LOL!

Quick and easy

The top layout (cousins) has been on my work desk for WEEKS! I could not get it done but one of the challenges at Twopeas over NSD was to finish something you started. So I did this one. The bottom one I do not care for but they can't all be masterpieces right? I did use my Cameo twice on this one so that helped some.

3-2-1 Challenge CKCB

Today I want to quickly share with you the 3-2-1 challenge that I completed for this months last challenge over at CKCB! I hope you join us!3 embellishments, 2 patterned papers and 1 picture. I also counted this in my Shimelle inspired layout challenge (to be seen later on in June).

Using 6X6 paper

I have recently started adding 6X6 paper pads to my stash as I like getting the entire collection on a smaller scale BUT I always forget to use them. So on NSD weekend I mad it a point to use the three most recent ones I had acquired. This layout using Simple Stories Fabulous. It was SO easy/fast/simple to put together. The pictures are actually from week in the life LAST year that I never got going on so I decided to pull the ones I wanted to scrap. I think I am pretty sentimental these days (or was that weekend) as all my journaling is deeper than normal. Do you ever get like that?

Shimelles Starting point and CKCB kit

I am also taking another class at twopeas by Shimell Laine. She talks about various starting points for when you begin your layout. One that she is a fan of us various vertical strips. So I tried that one and tried to incorporate what I am learning about clustering in this class. We all know I am not a good clusterer (guess that is not a real word huh?). I love how this turned out though I used my CKCB kit and lots of Echo Park sweet summertime goodies. Again more pictures of Great Grandma Sue make me smile!

23 May 2012

Background via Cameo

Over NSD weekend I challenged myself to use my Cameo and/or my stamps ON EVERY SINGLE layout. I used my CKCB kit for this one. This was tricky but I am OK with the results. It also qualified for the challenge I was hosting that weekend (beyond the basics in backgrounds). I am so happy to have these photos of C, her Mawmaw and Great Grandma Sue having a good time. I know I treasure these photos and she will to one day I am sure. She is blessed to have so many generations around that love her so much!

CKCB Challenge 2-Fabric

Good morning. I hope your May is going along nicely. I am here today to share my take on the second challenge this month on CKCB (use fabric on your page). I went with the obvious and simple (running out of time/energy with this pregnancy LOL). The awesome flowers are Jillibean Soup fabric flowers and have been in my stash for at least two years. Love them! Easy Peasy!

Stamping a la Crystal

I am taking this wonderful class over at Twopeas by Jen Gallacher on stamping in/on your pages. I have tons and tons of stamps (I love them!) so I figured I should USE them. On NSD weekend I sat down and made a few creations doing some heat embossing (I don't think I have done this in years and years), embellishment and title/journal  stamping. I am slowly falling in love with my stamps again!

Project Life Week 18

So we are in week 18 here, pretty caught up so GO ME! I am keeping is SUPER simple! I did challenge myself to use a Silhouette cut on each spread so I did that. Do I have plenty of pictures each week? Nope. Do I forget to take photos some weeks? YES! Is that OK with me? yes because I feel it is a true reflection of our lives right now. This week Caitlyn made her first scrapbook page with me, started really doing imaginative play, had fun play dates with her friends, picked me flowers, did Science experiments with Daddy and more. We also had baby boys baby shower with a few close friends, got the crib up for him and bought some decorations for his wall, I will make the rest. Lots of journaling this week, tends to me my trend. How are you doing on Project Life? Still going strong?

Challenge 1 for CKCB

Now this one I S-T-R-E-T-C-H-E-D it so far I am not sure you can count it but I am :). Our inspiration was the Vintage hats. For some reason the vintage black/gray colors popped at me and I translated that to the inking on my card. I also loved the flow of the fabric and translated that to the banners. See I TOLD you it was a stretch! But it works in my mind LOL!

Home-the bits and pieces

Very quick layout about the bits and pieces that make our new house HOME. I used some wood grain and rustic red patterned paper to simulate the feel on our first floor.

Long Lasting Love

I wanted to try banners and love Echo Park, thus this layout was born. These are my parents, married for 32 years this year. It has not been all rainbows and lollipops but they have taught me a very important lesson on commitment and marriage. Marriage is hard, takes a lot of work and compromise but is so worth it in the end. I am so proud of them and all they have overcome especially in this day where almost everything is disposable in our society. Go Mom and Dad!

Fun with Papaw Rusty

I had a few odd and end non specific photos of my Dad and C that I wanted to put on paper. This layout highlights all the fun and silliness that constitutes their relationship. They love to be outside, playing at the park, fishing, football and have an equally fun time making up games inside too. I hope they continue to make many more memories when they can.

Springtime Love-May CKCB Kit

It is that time again! I hope you had fun hopping along with us yesterday for National Scrapbook day! How many challenges did you get completed? Anything else exciting?

You should have arrived here from our awesome Guest Designer LCSMITH

Today we are sharing our counterfeit kits. We are copying Studio Calico's releases HERE. I choose to counterfeit the Montmarte kit HERE and bits of the Louvre kit HERE. I came up with a kit named Springtime Love. Not pictured are my alphabet dies to use with the felt and foam to make my own thickers. I love using my stash.
I made my own wooden buttons with patterned paper, bling, rhinestones, flower brads and more. I also copied the flags using Kraft card stock and various washi tape. The cork, Kraft, and cream journal spots/labels are all stamped and hand cut to mimic the ones in the kit. I threw in some smash pages, lots of washi tape, felt and foam sheets to make my own thickers. Now to find photos that will work it all. Can't wait to see what you make!

To continue on this awesome hop please go visit GLINDA!

I challenge you!!!!!

Entries are now CLOSED! I will draw first thing in the morning GOOD LUCK!
Happy (intern) National Scrapbook Day!!!! I am so happy you are joining us today at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge NSD CHALLENGE blog hop.  We have LOTS AND LOTS of awesome challenges (and some prizes!) going on! You should have arrived here from our awesome Guest Designer this month: Leslie. I am sure her challenge was awesome! After you leave me you will be going to JEMMA!  But for now you are mine LOL!

I often have a block on how to make my backgrounds more interesting. Don't get me wrong I love my strips/blocks/circles/squares; but sometimes I want something different, beyond the basics. So that is where my challenge came from. We are calling it BACKGROUND: BEYOND THE BASICS.   So here is the deal, you are to make your background with anything you have in your stash but you may NOT use circles, squares, rectangles, strips, or blocks. Now what is left you may be thinking? How about other shapes like hearts, stars, hexagons, or a bold pattern like chevrons? Do you stamp your background to essentially make your own patterned paper? That would qualify. How about lots of misting/inking/shadowing? Yep that would work too. Or tags? The sky is the limit as long as you do NOT use circles, squares, rectangles, strips, or blocks. So where will your imagination take you?

Make sure to do the following: link it on the NSD post on CKCB AND direct link it here in the comments.  I will count all comments submitted before MONDAY MAY 7th at 7PM EASTERN TIME.   I will use random.org to choose a winner to win a TEN DOLLAR GIFT CODE TO TWOPEASINABUCKET.COM! You can enter as many times as you like but they must be made this weekend  to qualify for various entries. I can't wait to see what you make!!!!!!

Hut, Hut, Hut!

This layout features the first time I used my Cameo for a title. Super easy, gotta figure out shadows now though! While we were home Papaw Rusty and C spent lots of hours playing football or "Hut Hut" as C was calling it. It made my heart smile to see them play together. They really do love one another!

02 May 2012

fun at the zoo

I had so many pictures for this one, I could have done five double layouts just like this one easily! However this was the first zoo that C went to with Nane and Papaw Rusty so it was special. It was also awesome that we only had to pay for ONE of us to get in, since they honor Veterans and let them in free! We had a blast! Even Elmo enjoyed the various animals!

Pumpkin fun

We love our pumpkins around here. We love to paint, carve, and otherwise alter them. We usually do TWO sets, one at the beginning via paint and another set closer to Halloween which we carve. It is one of my favorite fall family traditions!
