Copy, Copy, Steal-It is the sixth!!!!!!

Good Monday morning! Are you still excited from the reveal of the kit we copied this month? Do you love it? Hate it? So so?

Well let me be honest (when have I ever NOT been right?) I was NOT thrilled about it. It did NOTHING for me and there is no way I would buy it BUT with the help of my awesome design team sisters I was able to make it work for me. That IS what it is all about right? If you have been following me for a while you know that so far my kits have been MASSIVE, I mean I get about 15 plus layouts and some altered projects out them. I make them this big because (with the exception of design team work) I ONLY scrap from the kit for the whole month. Yes I do add from my stash but the majority, I would say 90% of it, is from the kit. It keeps me focused and I am able to have a more unified look in my books, if that makes sense.

So here is the kit at Burlap and Buttercups that I struggled to copy and make work for me this month:
I am not a huge Basic Grey girl, with the exception of the basics line and really do not own anything like these papers since they are not "me". This kit had 10 patterned papers, and included painted brads, chipboard frames, vellum butterflies, trinket pins, thickers, phrase stickers and flowers. It also has 2 yards of twine and some velvet ribbon.

Here is my kit:
  • I have :
  • ten patterned papers
  • some card stock glimmer and shaped
  • chipboard frames (three)
  • burlap flowers to replace the luscious bloomers
  • phrase stickers
  • thickers and alphabet stickers
  • chipboard butterflies instead of vellum ones
  • a few pearl pins instead of leaf pins
  • pleated ribbon
  • velvet ribbon scrap
  • bloomer ribbon because I need to use it up
  • pearls on a string
  • bling
  • a ticket or two
  • and some pink twine
In the Burlap and Buttercup ADD ON they had the following items:

  • 1 bottle Maya Mist in Raspberry Pink
  • 7 Gypsies Gypsy Tags, assorted styles
  • October Afternoon alpha stickers, Cupcake (chocolate)
  • BasicGrey's Hello Luscious Sticker Titles
  • 5 Crate Paper Sew Brads, assorted sizes and styles
Here is my version:
I added lots of bits and bobs, more bling and more letters. I will be using my kit primarily to make a mini and some other items for a dear friend of mine that loves pink/brown and distress. Do you think I got that look? Let's see I have some crochet flowers, lots of tickets, pearls, lace, buttons, charms, brads (velvet, corduroy, bling and pearl ones), journal spots, tabs, mini thread holders, and the mini album itself.I don't typically use what I call 'messy' materials (loose glitter, sprays, alcohol inks etc) so I did not include any in this kit.

I sure hope I got the distressed girly thing going on, what do you think? Link me up to your kit so I can drool over it! And this just goes to show you if I can make this work and step out of my comfort zone of cute, bright and clean lines SO CAN YOU!!!!!!

  7. Hey Crystal, I love your add on for this kit and especially the mini album. Can't wait to see what you do with that. I have to say I wish I made 15 layouts with my big kits, so far the most I have made is 9. I usually put half the kit away at the end of the month. Now that summer is here I hope to have a little more evening time to scrap.

  9. I like the inspiration kit a lot. I think what you came up with for your kit is great for not wanting to go with the original. You still have the pink, butterflies, chipboard, etc. I like it :)
