Awe & Joy (project 4 for kit) ON A ROLL!!!

This layout is a first for me in many ways. It is the first time I used crepe paper and attempted a border (needs work), the first time I used a stick pin (already made), and first time I used ALL PINK for a Christmas layout! Everything except the white thickers came from the kit. I am realizing that I need to either add more letters/brads or use my Cricut for the letters. Oh I had to make a letter, can you tell which one?

For the crepe paper border I simple gathered randomly, glued down, then used my Martha Stewart fringe scissors for the texture, ink it up and you are good to go. I hope that helps in case you are interested in doing it yourself. TIP: Put ribbon ON TOP of the top, so it looks like fancy shmancy trim you would pay like 5 bucks for!

Everything for these two little gift books was from the kit except for the handmade by Crystal stamp and since that is my go to I don't count that as part of anything. Sorry the lighting is off, it is dreary here.

Can you tell we are not Superbowl people? I am loving creating, makes it so much easier without tons of choices! I just hope that I do not tire of the color scheme since I kept it pretty specific.

This is the first thing I have made, only the frame and the chipboard came from the kit. This is only because the little girl's room is purple and well pink/black do not go with purple. Altered project one YAY!

Counterfeit Kit Challenge Feb

My whole kit minus stamping and alterable add ons

So a good friend, Bethany, and her friend Meridy set this awesome challenge blog up last month. I was unable to play but I was determined to play this month. The inspiration kit was very dark and sexy. I tried to mimic what I knew I would use and it DEFINITELY has my own spin on it. I stuck with pink/black/white/cream/silver color theme. I am not sure how the ladies do this every month. I kept adding and adding and it looked like a TON all piled up on my desk but really is not. I also added a stamping add on and an altering add on since I have plans to make a lot of my embellishments. I sure hope the PLANS work out LOL!

The basis of my kit is from Echo Park Be mine, I used four pieces of patterned paper from there, threw in some basic polka dots, stripes, glitter and even a little Tim Holtz for good measure. My embellishments include chipboard shapes, grunge board cuts from Nancy (thank you!), sticko shimmer dots, pearls, lace, lots of various textured trims, flowers and buttons. I added three sets of alphabet stickers, along with a few sets of alphabet stamps. My color add on is just basic ink, shimmer spray, Glacier Glimmer mist and a pearl pen. I will also have lots of doodling so I will use lots of pens not included.

Stamping kit, I may not use them all but I have some cards and alterables to do this month too.
Alterable kit: frame for a gift next week, two mini notebooks, felt for flowers, crepe paper for borders and paper tape for trims. We will see if I actually USE this kit.

One of these things is NOT like the others!

The title for this one came from my SIL. If you look at the last picture on the right we are all acting totally goofy except for Grandma Sue (hubbys grandma). So SIL automatically said "one of these things is not like the other" and well even over a year later it stuck. I do believe this is the LONGEST title I have EVER done but it is fitting. I still think this is missing something but can't tell what and I feel like I am forcing myself to create so I may take a break for a week or so. Don't worry I will be back!

Just Add Air

Good evening everyone. I hope you are doing well. I am freezing although it is not that cold here (40s). I think the winter blahs/blues has set in and zapped all my creative mojo. I did get this layout and one more done but I am not loving any. These pictures are from 2009, Cs second birthday. I stamped my polkadotted stamp in versamark ink on the kraft cardstock (and obviously need to learn to line it up better!), faux stitching, simple stamping and dotted up the chipboard letters. Pretty simple!

I {HEART} Buttons!

WOW! We are in February! So Phil the groundhog did not see his shadow so let's hope he was right and spring is around the corner.

You all KNOW I love buttons so here is part one of my Valentine decorations. I used a paper mache heart (3D) that I purchased awhile back from Hobby Lobby. I painted the shape in white paint then sprayed cherry ice ink on it for a more distressed look. Using clear, white, pink and red buttons all from my stash (YAY!) and lots of mini glue dots, this is what I have to hang in my scrap room. What do you think?

Valentines Cards or Not?

Good morning. Can you BELIEVE tomorrow is the FIRST OF FEB?!?!?! WOW! Time is flying by! Soon it will be spring with all the pretty colors and allergies LOL! I hope you had a great weekend and stayed warm or cool depending on where you are. We had a busy weekend with the first gymnastics class for C and so much more.

OK down to business, today I am sharing three Valentine themed or NOT cards, two use awesome sets from Cutting Cafe and one is just punches and stamping. I hope you like them!

Fun with hearts set
I love this set. It has super fun hearts, this one will be for hubby, not too girlie, a little masculine I think.

Just stamping and punches. I used the Magical background stamp (Thank you Rhonda!) on the base and the red circles, then white ink and a heart stamp for the hearts.

Animal and Bug Love set
This set is super cute and can be used as Valentine or as I did to cheer someone up telling them to take their time getting better.

So with that said here is what I came up with for this weekend! This is what I started out with!

This is what I made! I love it. I used the new K&Company Sweet Nectar for the pattern paper. So let's get cooking!










To make this sweet little container you will need the following ingredients:

April Showers Cricut Cartridge
Cricut Expression
12X12 Mat
ATG and adhesive
Chestnut Roan ink
Barn Door Distress inker
Distress Inker Applicator
Glossy Accents
Ribbon
Letter and accent stickers
Candy

1. Using your 12X12 mat, Cricut Expression, and APRIL SHOWERS cut the banner shadow at 2.5 inches three times using white card stock.

2. Ink the banner using barn door distress ink pad and the applicator.

3. Ink the edges in chestnut roan.

4. Adhere letter and accent stickers to spell LOVE YOU

5. Cut patterned paper circles to fit on container, adhere with ATG tape.

6. Cut butterfly icon out, remove butterfly, adhere to top fill in negative space with glossy accents.

7. Using two leftover pieces of the banner attach "11" and adhere to top of container.

8. Decorate with ribbon, and fill with candy.

Super simple and fun to give. I hope you like it!

I will admit that Rock Princess is totally not my style. I was a little worried when Scrapbook.pal sent it to me because of this. However, I am willing to try anything once (almost!) So here is my second shot, a card for a friend that is going through a tough time right now. I hope you like it and it helps her!

Ingredients:
Rock Princess
Cricut Expression
12X12 mat
Scotch ATG and 1/4 inch tape
Chestnut Roan ink
mini rhinestones
Kraft, pink, silver card stock
Heart patterned paper
rhinestones

Recipe:
1. Using Expression, Rock Princess, 12X12 mat cut the broken heart SHADOW at 3 inches on silver paper.
2. Cut broken heart in pink glitter paper, ink edges in chestnut roan ink.
3. Adhere two pieces together.
4. Cut phrase of broken heart (Heart Broken) at 1.75 inches out of pink glitter paper.
5. Using A2 size card, cut two small strips and one block from the pink heart paper and pink glitter paper, adhere to the front of the card.
6. Using foam tape adhere broken heart.
7. Accent with three mini rhinestones in top right corner.
8. Mat broken heart on silver paper, add photo corners from pink paper and sign.
